During Monterey Car Week, Ferrari Luce Chassis 0 — the first production chassis of the model — crossed the RM Sotheby’s auction block and sold for an extraordinary $40 million, setting a new world record for a new car sold at auction.

Created through Ferrari’s Tailor Made program, Chassis 0 was designed around the very meaning of Luce: light. Its Madreperla Semi-Gloss exterior transforms as the light moves across the body, revealing shifting green and violet reflections. Inside, Perla Le Mans metallic leather, Grigio Corvara details and bespoke finishes continue the same luminous story.

But this moment was about more than rarity or record-breaking value. The full $40 million in proceeds will benefit The Ferrari Foundation entirely, supporting educational initiatives for young people in the United States and around the world.
