Ferrari 812 Competizione

Ferrari 812 Competizione

The 812 Competizione is the ultimate expression of Ferrari’s concept of an extreme front-engined berlinetta and hones the characteristics of the critically-acclaimed 812 Superfast to a level never seen before. The car encapsulates and epitomizes the company’s 70-plus years of experience on the world’s circuits, drawing on its thoroughbred sports car DNA to deliver a perfect marriage of performance, form and functionality.

One of the 812 Competizione’s many striking features is its bonnet, which has a transverse groove in which the carbon-fibre blade sits. This proved an original way of disguising the air vents for the engine bay, whilst also increasing their surface area. The car’s nose shows off all of its imposing power with a wide front grilled flanked by the two distinctive and prominent side break intakes.

One standout design element is the sculptural rear bumper, which incorporates three aerodynamic slots along its outer surface. These slots not only serve as a visually striking feature but also improve airflow management, reduce drag, and enhance stability at high speeds. The design is reminiscent of vortex generators found on the rear screen, which help to manipulate air pressure and create downforce, keeping the car securely planted on the road. While functional, these elements also contribute to the car’s futuristic and aggressive aesthetic, blending cutting-edge performance with distinctive styling.

The interior architecture of the car closely mirrors that of the 812 Superfast, retaining key design elements such as the main dash and door panel interfaces, along with the signature diapason motif. The redesigned door panel reduces weight, and when combined with the introduction of the H-gate theme on the tunnel, it gives the cockpit a sportier, more modern edge that reflects the car’s racing heritage. These updates not only enhance the car’s performance but also emphasize its sleek, high-performance character, blending luxury with a distinct racing spirit.

The rear screen is now a single-piece aluminum structure. The vortex generators it sports improve the car’s aerodynamic efficiency, but this design solution simultaneously creates a backbone effect that underscores the car’s sculptural forms.

This new limited edition V12 has a strong personality all of its own: the styling themes chosen enhance its architectural design, dynamism and sporty vocation to new extremes. The carbon-fibre blade that traverses the bonnet changes the overall perception of the car’s volumes: the bonnet seems shorter, emphasizing the width of the car, thus making it appear more compact and competition-like despite it sharing the 812 Superfast’s silhouette, proportions and formal balance.
